Books to the Big Screen

Please join us in January for a free celebration of book to film adaptations. Six film adaptations of the The Thin Man book by author Dashiell Hammett will be presented for free in partnership with the Friends for the Public Library and the KiMo Theatre. One book by Hammett provided Hollywood with the basis for six films. The Thin Man series, with characters Nick and Nora Charles (William Powell and Myrna Loy), was hugely popular in the late 1930s and 1940s and continues to be among the most popular of that period’s comedy-mystery genre. Their chemistry on the screen is not to be missed as they solve one murder mystery after the next in each successive film.
